The program aims at providing students with the comprehensive and deep knowledge in the curriculum and teaching methods area, and enable students to develop their knowledge abilities and practice scientific research skills to achieve p knowledge in the curriculum and teaching methods area, and enable students to develop their knowledge abilities and practice scientific research skills to achieve  the intellectual and linguistic integration through the required courses and research .stage until finishing their thesis.

  • Raising the students' self-esteem academically and professionally that help.in  their continuous professional development 
  • Help the students to acquire the deep and comprehensive knowledge in the curriculum and teaching methods are in all branches.
  • Provide the students with the skills in research, analysis, design, evaluation and technology utilization.
  • Promote the students' ethical awareness in order to enable them to take logical decisions that have scientific approach.

Study Plan

The PhD in Education & Psychology / Curriculum branch prepares students to qualify for PhD in Education & Psychology / Curriculum branch. The student studies several subjects which have been carefully chosen in this major to cover its different aspects.

It comprises 2 Semesters of study, in which the student will study a total of 24 units, which include 6 units of general subjects, and 18 major units

General Description of the course: This course covers some statistical approaches and applications in SPSS represented in measures of relationships and correlation, in addition to introducing inferential statistics such as: statistical hypotheses, concept of statistical significance, errors of measure, errors of hypotheses - first type error, second type error, confidence level, significance level, and calculation of significance of percentages and how to benefit of it. It also covers regression, analysis of variance for mom-parametric measures, psychometric properties of tests, and utilizing SPSS in preparation, analyse and interpreting data.

This course concentrate on presenting the concepts related to scientific research methods and distinguish between them. It also introduces the concept of scientific research and its importance in scientific area. and summarize the most important scientific research skills, its features, to make the students able to prepare integrated research steps.

This course covers the definition of the concept of information and communication technology in education, in addition to presenting education technology and curriculum, education technology and learning resources.. It also covers the definition of system approach, education technology centres, multi-media technology, electronic education and distant education and their types, and management of education technology.

This course describes the concept of curriculum development and reasons for curriculum development and its importance, the basis of curriculum development and factors affecting it. In addition to basic principles and rules in curriculum development and stages, and models of curriculum development.

The course covers selected terms and statements from curriculum and teaching methods area and related areas, in addition to short research, studies and assays in curriculum and teaching methods and related areas.

This course describes the concept of evaluation, curriculum evaluation and the historical development of curriculum evaluation. In addition to knowing the basis and approached to curriculum evaluation and issues associated with it, presenting models of curriculum evaluation and examples of using them (locally and internationally in order to train to prepare a plan to evaluate a curriculum).

This course covers students' familiarization with the concept of teaching, its requirements and stages, teaching as a system, the concept of teaching strategy and its components. It also covers the classifications of teaching strategies, basis of selecting teaching strategies and its applications in the field of specialization.

This course describes the modern trends in curriculum, analysing and criticizing some studies and researches in the area of curriculum. In addition to analysing and evaluating some local curricula, studying and evaluating some curriculum development projects (locally and internationally), and tackling curriculum issues and problems.

00808 Comparative Studies in School Curricula 03 Compulsory +

This course covers the factors that effect the formation of education and curriculum systems and the reflection of curriculum theories on the curriculum components in education systems. In addition, it covers the comparing of education curricula in education systems in light of curriculum theory, and then addressing comparing curricula in some countries in light of social, cultural and political factors.

This course shade light on the concept of curriculum, its components, its historical development, the foundations and rules of curriculum planning and construction. And the criteria used in each step of constructing the curricula. It concentrates on the needed skills to analyse the curriculum components according to modern educational theories and familiarity with the different models of curriculum planning and construction.
